Port Blair, Sept. 3: With an aim to provide speedy justice, the Correctional Home, Prothrapur, the first of its kind, free Legal Aid Clinic to address the grievances of the inmates was inaugurated by Shri. Subash Kumar Kar, Ld. District & Sessions Judge­cum­Chairman of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) today.

Port Blair, Sept. 3: As part of Rashtriya Poshan Maah-2022 observance, a ‘Healthy Food without Flame’ competition was organized by the Department of Community Medicine, ANIIMS.  Students of MBBS actively participated in the programme in which a variety of nutritional food items were prepared by the students and showcased on the occasion.

Port Blair, Sept. 3: To create awareness and to inculcate the school children about the harmful effect of the Single Use Plastic (SUP) on human beings and environment including flora, fauna and Marine environment, Andaman and Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), Department of Science and Technology (DST) organized a sensitization programme in Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Goal Tekri, Kamorta Island on Aug. 29 and Govt. Senior Secondary School, Champin, Nancowrie Island on Aug. 30.  The environmental movies related to harmful effect of plastic were screened on both the schools. The Member Secretary, ANPCC-cum-Director, Science & Technology interacted with the students of both the schools and explained concisely about the banned SUP items and the harmful effect on the environment and human beings.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The 7th Circle Conference of BSNL Employees Union was held at Atul Smriti Samity, Port Blair today (3rd September, 2022). The Conference began with the hoisting of the Union flag and paying tributes to the martyrs at the specially erected Martyrs Memorial Column. Shri Deepak Shukla, Joint Secretary, Reception Committee welcomed the Chief Guest, General Secretary, BSNLEU and other leaders and delegates and observers. Inaugurating the Conference, Shri P. Abhimanyu, General Secretary, BSNL Employees Union, Delhi explained in detail the various actions of the central government over the years to destroy the state-owned BSNL.

Tourism Deptt. in Coordination with Tourism Stakeholders Conducts Beach Cleanliness Drive at Shaheed Dweep

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Tourism Department conducted beach cleanliness drive today at Bharatpur Beach, Shaheed Dweep, a preferred tourist destination in South Andaman frequented by a good number of National and International tourists.  The Beach cleanliness drive was carried out as part of ‘Clean Coast, Safe Sea’ campaign launched by GoI.
